Airplanes, pilots, sky and air kites
Determination is the main concept of the project "Airplanes, pilots, sky and air kite". The author himself in the "explanatory note" much reflects on the totality of the media environment and its obsessive influence on perception, and hence the artist's work. "All of this we have already seen somewhere" - sounds like a constant refrain in conceptual reasoning.
The author defines his paintings as agitation-weepers of a new heroic ideology. Conducted parallel with Soviet heroic myths. However, any modern viewer will easily notice that, in fact, our heroes did not come from the Soviet Union, but directly from the place where it's illustrated, created or authenticated by the bulk of the myths of our time - from Hollywood. Compositionally and stylistically, works resemble not so much the Soviet posters, but the flawlessly built frames of endless cinematic opuses on the heroes of American Air Force ... From the media environment, you can't escape! An artist, like any other citizen, is drowning in these cuddles, stickers, posters, billboards. It all affects the consciousness, like wet snow on the windshield ... and where are the "wipers"? Total determinism that what we see and think. The project, in fact, is also written about the impossibility of escaping imposed stamps. The author declares a critical attitude to the phenomenon of the pop culture, especially in its heroic expression. However, there's an anguish of the fullness of the deep sacred content that was inherent in original "heroic mythology". And also the inability to withstand the profane emptiness of everything & everywhere, that unfolds under the surface of the bright and attractive "visual noise." Therefore, there is so much of clear empty sky, this metaphor of absolute freedom; and the air snake is something very touching and completely different from the reality. Not from the reality where Tom Cruise can do all kinds of mission impossible, but just from the one, where the the wind took the kite from children and that look in their eyes – what we got now - helplessly watching the power of cosmic elements.
